Discovery

Five days of paid research: a clickable prototype plus a fixed price for the build.

Before you start a build, you want to know what you are buying. In five working days you have a clickable prototype and a fixed quote for the full build.

Why this

The most expensive mistake in software is not the wrong technology, it is six weeks spent building the wrong idea. Yet most companies decide on the basis of a two-page quote and a gut feeling.

Discovery turns that around. Five working days in which we strip the problem back, design the screens and deliver a clickable prototype you can put in front of your team or your customers. Not production software: a prototype you can make a decision with.

You end with a fixed price and a fixed scope for the full build. If you go ahead, the Discovery fee comes off that price. If you decide not to build, you learned that for a fraction of what the build would have cost.

Who it is for
  • Companies that need to justify a five-figure investment
  • Founders who want to validate before they invest heavily
  • Teams that want to turn an internal process into software

How I work

What the track
looks like.

  1. Day 1 · problem

We map the real process: who does what, where it stalls, what that costs per week today.

  2. Day 2 · scope

We cut the idea back to what delivers value. A third of it often falls away right here.

  3. Day 3-4 · prototype

The core screens get designed and made clickable, so you can walk through them.

  4. Day 5 · decision document

Prototype, scope, planning and a fixed price for the build. Enough to say yes or no.

Questions

Frequently asked questions
about discovery.

Do I get working software after five days?
No, and that is deliberate. You get a clickable prototype and a fixed price for the build. Production software in five days does not exist; what you would have is a demo that has to be rebuilt later anyway.
What if I go ahead with the build afterwards?
Then the Discovery fee comes off the build price in full. You do not pay twice for the preparation.
What if the outcome is that I should not build anything?
Then I say so, and you avoided an expensive mistake. Sometimes the answer is an off-the-shelf package or a changed process rather than custom software.
Can I take the prototype to another party?
Yes. Prototype, scope and documentation are yours, even if you have someone else build it.

want to build.

A half-hour call. You get an honest answer about what it costs, how long it takes and whether building it is smart at all.
