A site is not a piece of furniture: certificates expire, packages get security holes, and a backup nobody has ever restored is not a backup. For a fixed yearly fee I keep on top of that, small text changes included. Cancel each year.

Expired certificate
Visitors get a red warning from their browser before they see your site. Google penalises it, customers leave immediately.
No working backup
Something does get written away, but nobody has ever tested whether you can restore it. You find out at the worst possible moment.
Security holes
Outdated packages are the most used way in for abuse. If customer data sits in there, it is a GDPR problem too.
Nobody notices it is broken
Without monitoring you hear from a customer that your site is down, usually a day later than you would like.
Forms that go quiet
Enquiries end up in the spam box or nowhere at all. The revenue you miss because of it never shows up in your figures.
Small changes never happen
A price, an opening time, a team member who left. If each one needs a quote first, it simply does not get done.

Backups that are tested
Daily backup of files and database, with a real restore test now and then. Otherwise you do not know whether it works.
Monitoring
Your site is continuously checked for availability and load time, so usually I know before you notice. I pick up recovery during office hours; if you want guaranteed response times outside them, we agree that separately.

Text, prices, photos, an extra page: small edits are included. Bigger work I quote separately, always up front.
