Get found in ChatGPT

A website AI can
read and cite.

More and more people ask ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity instead of Google. Whether your business shows up in that answer is something nobody can promise you. What I can do is make your website readable, unambiguous and citable. I do that on every website I build or rework, and this site is the example.

Sound familiar

Why AI does not mention your business.

01

ChatGPT names your competitor

You ask about a business like yours in your own area, and the answer is about someone else. Often they simply have a page where the answer is spelled out.

02

Crawlers are blocked

A security plugin, firewall or old robots.txt keeps AI crawlers out. Nobody ever decided that on purpose.

03

The text only appears after JavaScript

A site that builds its content in the browser is an empty page to a crawler that does not run JavaScript.

04

Different business details everywhere

An old address on Google, another name on LinkedIn, no registration number on the site. To a model those may be three different businesses.

05

No page that answers the question

What does it cost, how long does it take, who is it for? If that is not stated anywhere concretely, an AI has nothing to cite.

06

An agency selling GEO as a miracle cure

A separate AI visibility package, with promises about mentions nobody can keep. The work is in your website itself.

How it works

What I do to your website.

01

First the base: findable and trusted

AI search engines lean on the same signals as Google: a fast, well-built site that is already found. Classic SEO remains the foundation.

02

Letting crawlers in on purpose

robots.txt names the crawlers from OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, Google and Apple, so a later tightening does not shut them out by accident.

03

Facts a machine understands

Structured data that states who you are, where you are and which profiles belong to you, with exactly the same details everywhere.

04

Pages that answer one question

Each page answers one question directly, with concrete prices and lead times where possible. That is what a model picks up.

In detail
01

Classic SEO and AI search side by side

GEO, generative engine optimization, does not replace SEO; it is a layer on top. An AI search engine searches the web first and then picks which sources to use. If you are not found, you are not cited.

That is why it starts with a well-built website. Moving platforms? Read first how to migrate WordPress without losing your Google rankings; those same rankings feed the AI answers.

This site as the example

I do not sell anything I do not use myself. Everything below is in the code of this site, and you can check it yourself.

robots.txt

GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, Claude-SearchBot, Claude-User, PerplexityBot, Perplexity-User, Google-Extended and Applebot-Extended are named in it. Only the API is closed off.

llms.txt

A short plain-language text: who I am, what I do, where I work and which pages matter. Written by hand, separately for the Dutch and the English domain.

Structured data

One JSON-LD graph with the website, me as a person and the business, using fixed ids. Landing pages like this one add an FAQPage.

The same facts everywhere

Chamber of Commerce number, VAT number, town, email and phone are in the data, and sameAs points to exactly the same LinkedIn and Google profile as the footer and llms.txt.

HTML from the server

Next.js renders every page on the server. A crawler gets the full text in the first response, without running anything.

One question per page

What a website costs, how long it takes, how it differs from an agency. Each question has its own page with a direct answer and concrete amounts.

03

A checklist for your own site

You can check most of this yourself. Not sure what a term means? See the glossary.

  • Your site ranks well in Google for your main search terms
  • robots.txt does not block GPTBot, ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot
  • The text is in the HTML, also with JavaScript switched off
  • Name, town and registration number are the same everywhere
  • Structured data for your business, with sameAs to your profiles
  • Every service has a page that answers the question directly
  • Prices and lead times are stated concretely, not just 'on request'
  • An llms.txt on your domain, as a small extra step
04

What I do not promise

Nobody can guarantee that ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews will mention your business. The models change, they choose their own sources and they do not show why. Anyone who promises otherwise is selling hope.

What I do: remove the obstacles on your side. After that, maintenance keeps it in order, so an update or new plugin does not quietly lock the crawlers out. If you want an AI assistant on your own site instead, that is AI on your website.

Frequently asked questions
Can you guarantee that ChatGPT will mention my business?
No, and nobody can. An AI model chooses its own sources and that changes with every version. I make sure your website is readable, unambiguous and citable, so your site is not the reason.
What is GEO?
GEO stands for generative engine optimization: setting up your website so AI search engines like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews can find it, understand it and use it as a source. It builds on classic SEO and does not replace it.
What is llms.txt and do I need it?
A text file on your domain that tells language models in plain language who you are and which pages matter. Whether AI search engines actually use it has not been shown. It is little work and does no harm, so I add it, but it is no substitute for good pages.
Is this different from SEO?
Mostly not. AI search engines search the web first and then use part of the results. A site that is not found is not cited either. What gets added: letting crawlers in on purpose, consistent facts and answers that can be quoted as they are.
What does it cost?
It is not a separate product. On a new website it is included, on an existing site I take it along in the rework or the maintenance. How a website is priced is on pricing.
Should I let AI crawlers in at all?
If you want to appear in AI answers, yes. Some of those crawlers fetch pages for search results, others collect training data. You can choose per crawler; we discuss it, and I record the choice in robots.txt.

Tell me what you want to build.

A half-hour call. You get an honest answer about what it costs, how long it takes and whether building it is smart at all.
